Kylie's

Approach & Qualifications

Kylie prides herself on her creative, empathic, person-centred way of working. She approaches therapy authentically and has an intense interest in conceptualising human experiences. Kylie believes that creating an environment in which clients can feel safe to express themselves is the best way to gather information. She loves context and flexibly applies her understanding of diverse knowledge areas to suit each individual. Kylie values feedback and integrates this into her practice. She is transparent and clear about her processes. She works collaboratively, and clients’ values and goals are central to her decision making. Clients’ lived experience is viewed as the ‘gold standard’ and takes precedence over pathologising models of experience.

Kylie has qualifications as a:

Interest

Areas

Neurodiversity, Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Mood, Parent support, Teacher support, NDIS and functional capacity assessments, Autism Diagnostic Assessments, Cognitive Assessment.

Kylie’s works from a systems approach and is informed by the social model of disability which recognises that people function according to the ‘goodness of fit’ into their culture, their environments, and their support networks. To move towards greater wellbeing these systems need to be recognised, explored, understood, and where necessary, adapted. Kylie often works collaboratively with parents and carers, teachers, and family members when supporting a child in therapy, and finds that the best child outcomes come from being connected in compassion to all the ‘moving parts’ surrounding an individual.
